Save the date–SWEC gala set for September 26th
Tickets are now on sale for the Southwest Environmental Center’s 13th annual On the River, For the River gala fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 5-10:30 pm. You won’t want to miss this event. Chef Brian Curry and Andele Restaurant have teamed up to create a gourmet menu to rival the finest restaurants–see the attached flyer for some of the highlights. And don’t worry about food lines this year–there will be servers and multiple serving stations.
And of course, there will be the usual great music, High Desert Brews, fine wines, silent auction, and mingling with some of the friendliest and most interesting people around, all under the stars at the beautiful Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park. Local NPR radio host Carrie Hamblen will preside over the festivities. Governor Richardson has been invited as the keynote speaker. Guided tours of the park will be offered between 4:30 and 6 pm on the half hour.
Tickets are $50 in advance, $55 after 9/23. ($25 is tax-deductible). Tickets are available at SWEC’s office, Mountainview Market, Malooly’s Flooring Company, Andele Restaurant, Las Cosas Kitchen Shoppe, and Milagro Coffee y Espresso. Great food, great fun, a great cause–it’s a winning combination! Get your tickets today!

Table sponsors needed
We are looking for additional businesses and individuals to sponsor tables at the gala. It’s a great, cost-effective way to get your name out to some of the most environmentally-conscious people in the area as well as attend the event. We have two levels of table sponsors: 1) for $400, you get your name on the table and listed in all publicity materials, and two free tickets to the event; 2) for $800, you get all the above plus TEN free tickets. Call contact Kevin or Lauren at (575) 522-5552 for more details.
Silent auction items needed
Do you own a business? Wondering what to do with your unwanted but valuable household items? Do you have an interesting hobby (e.g. gourmet cooking, topiary, etc.)? We are looking for donations of good and services to put in the silent auction. Examples include: jewelry, gift certificates for services (e.g. pet sitting, gourmet dinner, piano lessons, etc.), gift baskets of non-perishable items, art objects, pottery and ceramic items, high-end books, recycled household items (small appliances in gently used condition), recreational items in good condition such as bicycles, fitness equipment, and games. If you can help, please contact: Vicky Rader at (575) 526-9030 or vicrad@zianet.com or Lori Miller at (575) 526-2696 or lmiller@bhinc.com.
Volunteers needed
We also still need volunteers to help with things like set-up, serving, parking, front desk, silent auction, clean-up, etc. Besides helping us out immensely, if you work a three hour shift, you’ll get in free to the event! Contact Lauren at lauren@wildmesquite.org or (575) 522-5552 for more info.
