I keep urging my friends to keep a record of their NM sales taxes as I don't think most realize how very much they're paying. And if you itemize on your taxes many people don't know that you can deduct state sales taxes from your federal income tax if the sales tax you've paid is more than your state income tax.

With no big ticket purchases here's my record for this year which includes calculating $.17/gallon for gas; and of course these totals don't include taxes spent during out of state trips. (I had two trips to NYC this summer to deal with family matters.)

I am on a very limited budget and these amounts are significant to me.
