MVFS announces short film contest
January 29, 2010
The Mesilla Valley Film Society, an all volunteer organization, has been a fixture in the Mesilla Valley for 20 years, and is looking for new and interesting ways to get the word out to new patrons and to bring past patrons to the theatre.
MVFS is the only film venue for a 225 square mile radius which shows full week runs of foreign and independent films, smaller lesser known films from around the world, and a regular slate of documentaries.
With that in mind, we are pleased to announce our first ever short film contest. All area residents are eligible to participate, but please read the following instructions and rules very carefully before submitting an entry. Any entry not adhering to the instructions will be automatically disqualified. Instructions, Rules, and Requirements:
–Each entry must be 90 seconds or less.
–must emphasize the activities of the film society (www.mesillavalleyfilm.org <http://www.mesillavalleyfilm.org/> for details)
–funny, but not gross-out funny, and please, no harsh language or violence.
–must include a message about turning off cell phones and no texting
–must be on a regular DVD. If it doesn’t play on our standard DVD player, it is immediately disqualified.
–March 15, 2010 deadline-must be received by 7 PM on that day. No late entries, no excuses!
–two winners…each winning film runs for a week before our regular feature film, and winners will receive several free tickets and a small cash prize of $50 each.
–one entry per filmmaker, no age restrictions.
Other Information:
Please drop your entry off at the Fountain Theatre prior to one of our film screenings. You may also mail entries to MVFS, PO Drawer Z, Mesilla, NM 88046. DVD’s will NOT be returned unless you arrange to pick them up.
