Let “the idiots take over”?
March 8, 2010
In a recent letter in the local press, a disgruntled Las Crucen predicted if the president failed to produce “a real health care bill, I and millions more will just abstain from voting and let the idiots take over.”
Well, in the latest school bond voting, the turnout proved disappointingly low. Did that mean voters had shrugged and let “the idiots take over”?
What do you suppose would have happened if on the heels of the triumph by George Washington and his volunteer army the victorious colpnists had met in Philadelphia – to create the documents for guiding the new nation – only to have Thomas Jefferson jump to his feet insisting if the vote didn’t go his way, he’d let “the idiots take over”?

Got something to say?

With all due respect to the letter writer, Ms. Markham, it would appear in Washington, D.C., at least, the idiots are already in *crazy* control. And for sweet irony, guess how they got there? Not by people abstaining their votes.
