First time for “Don’t Kill My Father” to be shown in El Paso
March 14, 2011
El Paso, TX, March 14, 2011: El Pasoans Against the Death Penalty is pleased to host the first showing in El Paso of “Don’t Kill My Father” on Monday, March 21st. The film will be shown at 6:00 p.m. in the Juan Diego Room at the St. Pius X Catholic Church Ministry Center located at 1050 N. Clark St., across the street from the church.
This compelling documentary by award-wining filmmaker Elvira Dones shares the heart-wrenching stories of family members who have a relative on Texas’ death row. “Don’t Kill My Father” depicts the “forgotten victims” of the death penalty, and the trauma—emotional and mental—they suffer.
One of the people interviewed in the documentary is Natalie Skinner, the daughter of death row inmate Henry “Hank” Skinner. On March 6th, the US Supreme Court issued an opinion allowing Mr. Skinner to sue for post-conviction DNA testing as a civil rights action.
This premiere showing of “Don’t Kill My Father” is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be offered.
