Santa Fe Master Gardener Association again offers its popular Gardening 101: The Basics of Gardening in Santa Fe, a full day course in gardening essentials, on Saturday, March 16 from 9 am to 3:30 pm.
The course is designed to give new or new-to-Santa Fe gardeners a primer of gardening knowledge that will help them deal with the special challenges of gardening in the area. Teaching the class are long-time, local gardening experts Tracy Neal and Jannine Cabossel. Topics covered include:
Garden planning and plant selection that take local soil types, regional climate patterns and microclimate into consideration to improve chances of success
Common landscaping mistakes And how to avoid how to avoid them
How to create healthy and bountiful fruit and vegetable gardens and the best varieties for this area
How to use compost in your landscape, orchard, and vegetable garden
How to stretch the growing season in your vegetable garden
The best resources for gardening in this area
And much more
