Lucky Las Cruces Woman Wins Car
Yolanda Martinez of Las Cruces is the winner in SWEC’s 2013 Toyota Prius raffle. Her name was picked out of 400 entries during the Las Cruces Earth Day Fair at Young Park. Details and photos on our website. Thanks to everyone who supported SWEC’s conservation work by buying a ticket.
Our Friends in the Desert: Living With Snakes—May 14th, 7 pm
Snakes are becoming active–no need for panic! Herpetologist Frank Bryce will talk about the reptiles we share the desert with, how to identify the most common species of rattlesnakes, and what to do if you find one on your porch. He’ll bring in live specimens (in cages!) to help with identification.

People have been asking if there will be a Raft the Rio this year. The answer is yes! It is scheduled for Saturday, June 15th. Although the Rio Grande is currently dry, there will be an irrigation release in early June which should be enough water for the event. Stay tuned for details. Registration materials will soon be available on our website.
