A Conversation with Houston Johansen and Rick Lass About Proposed Amendments to the City Charter

No less frequently than every ten years, city voters are asked whether to amend the city’s charter, the mini-constitution that governs city government. We will look at the process that came up with this year’s proposals and the proposals themselves, and also look at the process of becoming a candidate on the ballot and the mechanics of Public Campaign Financing. Moderated by Rick Lass.

Houston Johansen was a member of the Santa Fe Charter Review Commission and has been a candidate for city council. He was a progressive candidate for Santa Fe City Council in 2012 and ran to make Santa Fe more affordable for working families.

Rick Lass, the Moderator, has been actively examining and proposing changes for our electoral process since being told he was spoiling elections by participating in them.
