From Occupy Santa Fe: You are invited to join us in raising money and support for a Mass Protest to end the brutal, murderous practices of the Albuquerque police department. Since 2010 the APD have shot and killed 27 people. We invite the community of Santa Fe to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Albuquerque as they say to the APD, the mayor, and the world: ENOUGH!
Thursday, June 12
Speakers at the benefit:
David Correia, UNM Professor of American Studies, editor of La Jicarita, An Online Magazine of Environmental Politics, and author of a book entitled ‘Properties of Violence: Law and Land Grant Struggle in Northern New Mexico.’ Active in the APD brutality struggle, he recently discussed the history of APD violence at TEDxABQSalon
Mike Gomez, whose 22 year old son, Alan, was unarmed when he was shot and killed by APD. Mike and his family successfully sued the city of Albuquerque. Mike has emerged as a prominent activist confronting the brutality of the APD.
