Standing Rock Support: Local Weekly Demonstration Thursday

February 8, 2017

Earthjustice reports:
“Today [Feb. 7], the Army Corps of Engineers notified Congress that—within the next 24 hours—it will issue an easement to allow the Dakota Access Pipeline to cross under Lake Oahe in North Dakota near the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe reservation. The Corps also reversed its Dec. 4 decision and announced that it would forego the preparation of an environmental impact statement analyzing alternate routes for the controversial crude oil pipeline.”

“Water Protectors Call for Global Mass Mobilizations as Army Plans to Approve Dakota Access Pipeline”

Lets turn our weekly demonstration of support for the Standing Rock Water Protectors into the mass mobilization called for by those who have “boots on the ground” in North Dakota.  The usual demonstration is [Thursday] from 4:30 to 5:00pm on Church Street near the federal building in Las Cruces.  Please come and join us after work.  We’ll be there until at least 6:00.  We can line both sides of the street and make a some noise.  Drums and whistles, signs, chants and songs are welcome.  Prayers will be offered.
