Reminder – Textile sale to fund scholarships for Maya youth, Oct.12 & 13

Weaving for Justice, the Maya Educational Foundation, and The NMSU University Museum are joining forces to raise funds for scholarships for Maya children and youth in Belize, Chiapas, Mexico, and Guatemala at a textile sale at the University Museum this coming Thursday and Friday, October 12th and 13th from 2:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.

Items for sale include huipiles (blouses), jewelry, masks, and assorted textiles made by Mayas of Mexico and Guatemala and other original peoples of Mexico and Latin America. Books and prints will also be for sale.


Please come by and feast your eye on the range of beautiful items, donated by nineteen individuals from their collections spanning the past sixty years.


At 5:30 pm, each day we will show “Maya Faces in a Smoking Mirror,” a documentary film featuring the stories of eight young Maya men and women of Chiapas by Bill Jungels and Christine Eber, founding member of Weaving for Justice.
