Families Belong Together and Free–March and Rally in El Paso

June 29, 2018

This is a quick update on Friday afternoon as we prepare for Saturday’s action.
1) Families Belong Together and Free–
As a reminder, this march is coming up Saturday morning.  We will gather starting at 8 am at Cleveland Square Park (Corner of Franklin and Santa Fe; across from the ballpark and next to the library in Downtown El Paso).  At 9 am the march will depart for the base of the Santa Fe St. Bridge where there will be a community rally against family detention, asylum turnbacks, and the criminalization of migration.

As this moral crisis facing our nation continues to fester and intensify we need to step up our efforts to assert and defend our values of opportunity, family, welcoming, and humanity that are so starkly under assault right now.  This is a local event emphasizing local organizations and families.  Please join us and spread the word.  More information can be found on the event Facebook page, here: www.fb.com/events/479028092518400

2) What’s Happening–
Mass detention of asylum seekers and immigrant families appears to be settling in as a protracted fight locally and nationwide.  Here are some stories you should know about:
