Project Oak Tree, a project of the Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces that provides overnight housing for immigrant families in 2 local churches and in private homes, seeks donations and volunteers.  Needed are clothing for ages from newborns through adults, both male and female (new underwear), diapers, and dollars.  Volunteers help sort donations, prepare meals, wash linens and towels.  Take donations to 1380 Medpark Circle, Las Cruces.  Call 575-523-7577 to volunteer.

     Las Cruces City Council will consider a resolution opposing the Zero-Tolerance Policy separating children and the inhumane conditions the children are placed in.  Meeting begins at 1:00pm and this resolution is #6 on the agenda.

 

     Great Conversation on Poverty: Causes & Impacts led by Jack Turney at the Community of Hope Resource Room, 999 W. Amador.  Conversation is from 5:30 to 7:00pm and is limited to 20 participants.  RSVP to greatconversationslc@gmail.com.

“Immigration: Love Your Neighbor?” is the theme for this Great Conversation facilitated by Rev. Linda Mervine at the Unitarian Universalist Church library, 2000 S.      Deconstructing Reproductive Justice in the Southwest will be a one-day, intersectional event that deconstructs the scope of reproductive justice through discussion, workshops, and collaboration.  It will be held from 8:30am to 4:30pm at 9050 Viscount Blvd., El Paso, TX.

 

Cumbia Contra La Migra III, is El Paso’s most RAD party and will be held at Neon Rose, 2430 Wyoming Ave, El Paso, from 8:00pm to 2:00am.  $5 admission fee supports the Fronterizo Fianza Fund that helps pay bonds so a few people can be released from immigration detention.  Must be 21+ to attend.  Sponsored by Detained Migrant Solidarity Committee.
