The Future of Wildlife in New Mexico and the U.S.”
Kevin Bixby, executive director of the Southwest Environmental Center (SWEC), will talk about how states need to radically change the way they manage wildlife in order to meet the challenges of saving wildlife in the face of climate change, habitat loss, federal inaction and other threats that have resulted in the loss of 60 percent of the planet’s wildlife since 1970. He’ll talk about how SWEC and partners are pushing a package of legislative reforms at the New Mexico Legislature that, if enacted, will end coyote killing contests, democratize our wildlife policies and institutions, and make New Mexico a leader in wildlife conservation.   This talk is part of the Roundtable series at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2000 S. Solano.  Roundtable is at 10:30am in the church Library.
