Senator Garcia Wins Bruce King Award

SANTA FE, NM (January 18, 2012) – At the Democratic Party of New Mexico’s annual legislative dinner last night, Senate Majority Whip Mary Jane Garcia (D-Dona Ana) was presented with the prestigious Bruce King Award. The award was established to honor Governor King’s legacy and is presented annually to one legislative champion from the Senate and one from the House of Representatives. This year’s recipient from the House was Speaker Ben Lujan. Senator Garcia is the first ever award winner from Dona Ana County.

Senator Garcia was introduced by New Mexico Democratic National Committeewoman Mary Gail Gwaltney, and received her award from Attorney General Gary King. She was honored for her commitment and accomplishments in fighting against human trafficking and child abuse.
