McCain Campaign Pulls Out of Michigan

October 2, 2008

National Public Radio reported at 4:30 pm that the McCain campaign has pulled out of Michigan, closing offices and sending staffers to other states, including Maine.

Recent polls have shown Obama with a substantial lead in Michigan. The McCain strategic adjustment has shown he does not intend to try to close the gap.

The Obama campaign similarly chose to devote resources elsewhere in mid-September, reassigning staffers from Montana, North Dakota, and Georgia.

Of those, only Michigan has been considered a battleground state by impartial observers.
