Occupy SF leads ALEC protest and people’s pizza in Santa Fe Wednesday

GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER!!!
ALEC – The American Legislative Exchange Council at the Eldorado Hotel.
ALEC exists so big corporations can collude with legislators to propose and promote a pro corporate, right wing and anti-people agenda. Twenty-three NM legislators are active members of ALEC and promote and introduce ALEC’s reactionary and racist legislation. This includes attacks on immigrants, minorities, students, seniors, unions and public employees, the environment, and a pro-people agenda.
The ALEC event is by invitation only, and it costs $250. We understand that they don’t invite the press to attend their love fests of corporate lobbyists and politicians.
Everyone is invited to attend our Protest Rally and alternative People’s Pizza and Potluck Dinner on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 – 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the site of the ALEC dinner – outside of the Eldorado Hotel, 309 W. San Francisco St. in Santa Fe. Our event is being hosted by Occupy Santa Fe and a growing list of other organizations.
Members of the New Mexico Legislature have all been invited and many will likely be available for interviews and for candid questions about the national efforts to get corporate money out of legislator’s pockets and out of the electoral process. We have asked our legislators to sign the 99 Pledge, an Occupy Santa Fe national initiative to get money out of politics . The campaign will be officially launched on January 23. A number of local officials and a number of New Mexico legislators have already signed the Pledge.
We have also asked New Mexico Legislators to decline their invitation to the ALEC membership dinner and have asked them to join their constituents outside the Eldorado where the protest rally and alternative dinner are happening on January 25th.
Representatives of Occupy Santa Fe will be available to answer your questions on the night of the event.
We suggest that you Dress Casual and Warm and that you bring your cameras and recorders.
