County Pre-Primary Schedule (Democratic Party)

The Democratic Party of Doña Ana County (DPDAC) will be holding District/Precinct Meetings on February 18, 2010 to select delegates and alternates to the County Pre-Primary Convention. A list of the District/Precinct Meeting sites follows below. The sites will open their doors at 5:30 PM. The individual Precincts will start their meetings at 6:00 PM sharp.

You do not have to be at your Precinct Meeting to be elected as a delegate/alternate from your precinct to the County Pre-Primary Convention. You can be nominated at the Precinct Meeting by someone from your precinct that is present at the Precinct Meeting.

The DPDAC rules are written to allow maximum participation. We therefore allow the Precinct Chairs 48 hours to fill any vacancies not filled on the evening of his/her Precinct Meeting on the 18^th. After the 48 hour period [which expires 7:00PM Saturday, February 20^th], the District Directors will attempt to fill the vacancies. The District Directors will have until an Executive Meeting, called for by the Party Chair, to be held on Wednesday, February 24^th at 6:00 PM at the DPDAC Headquarters, 1400 South Solano (corner of Solano and Foster). The list will be finalized and certified at that meeting.

At the County Pre-Primary Convention the Precinct delegates/alternates will select a set of county delegates/alternates that will go to the State Pre-Primary Convention.  The rules do not provide for any automatic delegates to the County Pre-Primary Convention, therefore it will only be the delegates/alternates from the precincts that will be accredited to vote at the County Pre-Primary Convention to select the county delegates/alternates going to the State Pre-Primary Convention.

Our County Pre-Primary Convention will be held at Dickerson’s Barn on Saturday, February 27, 2010, beginning at 10:00. The doors will open at 9:00 AM for registration.

By rules, no proxies are allowed at the County Pre-Primary Convention. However, after having appeared at the Dona Ana County Pre-Primary Convention, and having established credentials, an accredited participant to the convention may give a written permission to another delegate/alternate  from the same Precinct [provided that no person may hold more than three (3) credentials] to vote for that Precinct.

By Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) rules, the delegation to the State Pre-Primary Convention will be composed of those delegates/alternates elected at the County Pre-Primary Convention and the existing Dona Ana County State Central Committee members.

The State Pre-Primary Convention will be held in Santa Fe, at the Buffalo Thunder Resort, on March 13, 2010.
