Roundtable Schedule for February 2013

January 18, 2013

Unitarian Universalist Church roundtables are held at 10:30 am Sundays in the library of the UU Church, 2000 S. Solano, Las Cruces.
Feb 3 Barbara Myers: American Prisons: Criminal Justice or Injustice?
The U.S. Having the largest incarceration rate in the world has major problems. Attempted solutions to overcrowding have included early release and outsourcing to private prisons. The use of private prisons run as a business enterprise may be much more of a problem than a solution.

Feb 10 Jim Basler: “A Happening”
This is the ordination/installation Sunday for our new minister Rev. Carole Czujko. Because of all the activities, attendance at roundtable is likely to be low. Therefore, this roundtable will be “A Happening” where we discuss whatever subject is on people’s minds. I will bring some topic suggestions, but think about what you would like to discuss.

Feb 17 Tara Gray & Jean Conway: Are U.S. Economic Policies Racist?
Do U.S. economic policies ensure that those who start behind stay behind?  Or, are those who think so trying to ensure that everyone has an equal chance rather than a fair chance?

Come hear a vigorous and cordial debate over whether or not U.S. economic policies are racist and join the spirited discussion that will follow.

Feb 24 Dale Robison: Lincoln’s Religion
What were Lincoln’s religious beliefs?   Some say he was a Christian, other say a free thinker, still others claim he was a Spiritualist, while a catholic bishop claims he was a Catholic.
