Friday, May 31, 2019     Adaptive Leadership Workshop, Part 3: Winning hearts and minds to strengthen services for 100% of Dona Ana County’s kids and families.  This Resilience Leaders workshop, facilitated by Las Cruces city counselor Kasandra Gandara and Dominic Cappello, co-author of Anna, Age Eight, will be held in Rm 2007 of City Hall from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  Learn about data-driven prevention of childhood trauma and maltreatment.

Saturday, June 1, 2019     Border Heroes 2019: Resilience is the theme for the annual border heroes dinner event sponsored by Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center.  Las Americas provides pro bono legal representation for several asylum-seekers held in long-term detention and has been a long-time advocate for immigration reform.  This year, Las Americas honors attorney Carlos Spector with its inaugural Legacy Award, Stephanie Karr (former Executive Director of the Center Against Sexual and Family Violence) as the Border Hero, and Annunciation House with a special Volunteer Award.  Tickets are available at $80 (through May 18) and $100 (after May 18).  The dinner will be 6:30-7:30pm at the El Paso Community College, Administrative Services Center, 9050 Viscount Blvd.  RSVP at https://www.facebook.com/events/886028155061578/.

Singing Out Concert with the theme “Disco, Madonna, and Cher, OH MY!!!” can be heard starting at 7:00pm at Peace Lutheran Church, 1701 Missouri Ave.  Tickets on sale at Spirit Winds and at the door. Tickets are $10 with children 12 and under free. Sign Language interpreter at all concerts.

Friday, June 21, 2019     Free Concert to celebrate 2019 Juneteenth will be offered at 6:00pm at the Rio Grande Theatre (211 N Downtown Mall).  Musical guests will be NMSU Gospel Choir, Voices of Bethel, Greater St. John Male Chorus, New Life Missionary Baptist Church, Randy Granger, Orlando Antonio-Jiminez, and New World Drummers.  Get your groove on and hear these inspiring musical offerings.

Saturday, June 22, 2019     2019 Juneteenth Unity Banquet, “So Much at Stake,” will feature keynote speaker Dr. Ernest Johnson, Esq.  Dr. Johnson is Professor at Southern University Law Center.  The dinner begins at 6:00pm and will be held at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Rd.  Tickets for this annual event sponsored by the NAACP-DAC at $50 may be purchased on the NAACP website, www.naacpdac.org.  Call 575-635-7538 for more information.
